Have you ever gone for a hike or run that you recorded on Strava.com, only accidentally forget to turn off your GPS device after you drove home from the trailhead? Rather than having that recording rejected from Strava or being stuck with unwanted data in your GPS track, the app can detect these changes in activity type & break apart the track on them, allowing you to only save the portions that you want.
For example, on this trip to Peru, we left our camp to climb Yanapaccha in the morning, hiked to the road, hailed a colectivo to get to the trailhead for Chopicalqui, and hiked in to our next camp. The app conveniently allowed me to save the climb & hike out as one track, and the next hike in as another track.
