Problem
Track noise is basically just any incorrect coordinate recorded due to insufficient quantities of satellite connections or insufficient quality of reception. This is the most common problem people have with GPS recordings, & the most problematic, as it shows incorrect paths & produces incorrect stats as it occurs randomly throughout a Track.
Below are a few of examples of noise.
Solutions
This problem can be dealt with through smoothing with appropriate movement constraints specified for a given activity. Incorrect coordinates can be deduced by points that move too quickly for some criterion that has a predictable maximum for a given activity. For example, points that move too fast, round a turn too fast, or ascend/descend too quickly are all obvious candidates for being removed from a track.
